Renshi Herman's approach to creating New Generation Karate's "Ultimate Curriculum" has been the same as his approach to his own personal martial arts training. He continues to cross train in various arts learning new skills to incorporate into the New Generation System. Already incorporating both Kickboxing and Thai Kickboxing skills into the NGK System, Renshi Herman is currently pursuing Black Belts in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Traditional Japanese Jiu Jitsu, Filipino Stick Fighting, and the list goes on. Herman says "I feel so privileged to be old enough to remember the old die-hard days of traditional martial arts way back when, and yet young enough to be cool with training and evolving with the times." "You need to have an open mind when it comes to your training and your teaching…" he continues 'Be water my friend'[a famous Bruce Lee saying].

Herman travels throughout the year to train with some of the world's top Masters, Athletes, Competitors, and Champions: Frank Shamrock, Tito Ortiz, Cung Le, Dan Severn, Carlos Machado, Rigan Machado, Stephen K Hayes, Fumio Demura, Joe Lewis, Bill "Superfoot" Wallace, Gene Lebell, Mike Swain, Ernie Reyes Sr. and Ernie Reyes Jr. to name a few.
